A Different Kind of Therapist

I love being a therapist. I think it’s one of the greatest jobs in the world.

And it’s also true that a lot of the way therapy is practiced feels, to me, like it’s missing something. I believe that something is the intentional engagement with life’s biggest questions. I don’t think we can pursue happy lives without deciding why we’re here and how to make meaning when challenges arise.

Sometimes we call that spirituality, but if that word doesn’t work for you, that’s okay.

Wild Heart Therapy is a collaborative experience in guiding you towards the life you want to have, and the symptom reduction you want to see. But we’re not only going to do it through assessments and evidence-based practice; we’re also going to do it through finding the courage to answer the question, “What do I want to decide my pain means?”

I created Wild Heart Therapy because this is a question I have to answer over and over again in my own life. Pain and suffering are unavoidable parts of human life, but they do not need to cause the excess suffering that I see so many of us experiencing.

We resist grief. We resist acceptance of what is. We resist feeling safe because then we might experience even more loss.

But loss is just life. How we dance with grace, grief, and gratitude determines how we shift our relationship with loss. Besides a decade of experience working in mental health, this is the experience I bring to Wild Heart Therapy.
